Permitting

The State of Georgia requires building permits for all home remodeling projects where structural work is involved or when the basic living area or footprint of the home will be altered.

Pulling permits will help assure that your project is completed following all the latest local building codes and insures that you get full value for improvements made on your home.

Effective July 1, 2008, Georgia requires all Residential and General Contractors to obtain a Georgia Residential Contractor License in order to obtain a building permit. RL Hayes has already been approved and has obtained it's license (effective July 1, 2008).

RL Hayes Inc. will pull all required permits for your project.

Why Is Permitting Important?

It's easy to understand why contractors often bypass pulling permits for a remodeling project. There are fees attached as well as time involved. But skirting the permit can create major headaches.

The true importance of have a permit may not become apparent until you sell your home.

The lender for a prospective buyer may require verification that improvements were properly permitted or not give full value for the improvements. Prospective homebuyers may also be wary of the quality of improvements that were done without permits.
